CPD
EREPS has a straightforward purpose - we simply need to ensure that we have enough skilled exercise professionals across Europe, so the fitness industry is able to safeguard and promote the health and interests of the people who use their services. EREPS is the process and structure where we give exercise professionals the recognition of their achievement, so they are able to practise safely, effectively and legally. This should give consumers, employers and partners in medical professions the necessary level of confidence in their professionalism.
Registration with EREPS means that you, as an exercise professional, have already met minimum standards of good practice and that you are committed to raising standards through a process of continuing professional development (CPD). The position of CPD within the total concept of EREPS is paramount to its success, as it is a central principle of professionalising the industry.
We are in discussion with a whole range of people across the industry - including members of EREPS - to work out just what and how our CPD requirements will come into effect from April 2009. CPD should underpin status of registration of each member, but also to have real value and benefit for professional and personal development. EREPS supports some of the main principles of how the European Union and Commission want us all to work and live – and the CPD programme is really another way of describing and contributing to the concept of “lifelong learning” – a journey of personal development that now never ends!
Details of the CPD programme and how to keep your personal records of CPD will be sent to all members – and how you can keep your own records on-line. If you have a view on CPD or want to read the briefing papers we’ve prepared please go to the EREPS website for more information www.ereps.eu
