ICREPS & International
Whatever is happening in Europe is also happening all around the world with an increasing interest in qualifications and standards for exercise professionals. Because of the high level of international cooperation used to develop the EHFA standards used by EREPS, they are being used as a benchmark by other countries and training providers to compare with their practice.
There are still just 4 registers working – Australia, EREPS, New Zealand and REPs UK, who formed the International Confederation of Registers (ICREPS) in 2007 but new countries coming on-line are South Africa, Canada, Malaysia with strong interest from India, Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates. The European Union is funding a lot of pioneering work in vocational training to improve levels of lifelong learning and the mobility of workers and their latest thoughts on this will be presented at an international conference in the USA in March. Europe is setting the pace and structure for other countries to follow.
