New Standards

New Standards

EHFA (the European Health and Fitness Association who set the technical standards and criteria for EREPS) recently appointed Prof Alfonso Jiménez as the chairman of the prestigious Standards Council. This important role will coordinate the development and renewal of standards that will be used across Europe to build the basis of qualification and training for exercise professionals in the future.

Now we have so many members across Europe in different countries, we can use this 'resource' to help provide evidence and feedback to the process of new standards work. The aim is to make sure that training standards are fit for the future and have acceptance across the entire industry.

Prof Alfonso Jiméne

Alfonso is a senior lecturer at the European University of Madrid – and is a personal trainer as well as having managed clubs and also works closely with the US organisation, The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Two other eminent Europeans are working to help EHFA and EREPS to find and develop the right standards. Irene van Geest is a Senior Consultant in communication strategies and was Director of Public Information at the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and Jean Sadouni is a personal trainer and has run his own company 'Fit & Well Concept', and is well-known in Fitness First Europe.
